How to choose

What a CV should contain

A good CV template arranges the content into predictable sections that a recruiter finds at a glance. Below is the list of sections in the order the eveilo editor uses, with a short note on what to put in each.

Contact details

Name, phone number, email address and city. No full home address and no national ID number. A LinkedIn or portfolio link is worth adding only when the profile is up to date.

Professional summary

Two or three sentences at the top of the document: who the candidate is, how many years of experience they have and where they are strongest. It is the first thing that gets read, so avoid generalities and focus on specific facts.

Experience

Most recent position first. Company name, job title, dates with month and year, and three or four bullet points with responsibilities and results. Numbers (sales growth, team size, budget) work better than adjectives.

Education

School, field of study, degree obtained and years. Experienced candidates place this section below experience; graduates can move it up and add relevant projects or internships.

Skills

A list matched to the job ad: tools, technologies, competences. Name a few of the most important ones. Mark a level only when it can be defended in an interview.

Languages

Each language with a level: from basic to native, or on the CEFR scale from A1 to C2. Certificates with a date, if any.

Interests and additional information

Brief, and only when they add something: driving licence, certifications, volunteering, a hobby that says something about character. This section does not have to fill the page.

Consent clause

Employers in Poland often expect a data-processing consent at the bottom of the CV, while in most other countries it is not used. The clause is available in the Polish version of the eveilo editor.

How to choose a CV template

Classic, single column

Administration, law, finance, public sector and anywhere seriousness and readability come first. Templates Classic, Mono, Swiss.

Two columns

IT, marketing, sales, logistics. The side column holds skills and languages, the main one describes experience. Templates Modern, Tech, Slate, Convoy.

Creative

Design, fashion, hospitality, beauty, media. A bold header and decorations that stay in memory without covering the content. Templates High Fashion, Modern Pastel, Saffron, Fringe.

Whatever the layout, every template saves to a PDF with a text layer, so applicant tracking systems (ATS) read all of it. The template can be changed at any time without retyping the content. ATS CV checker

Questions about CV templates

Are the CV templates free?

The Contour, Timeline, Modern, Classic templates are entirely free: filling in, previewing, downloading a watermark-free PDF and a cover letter in the same style. The other templates can be filled in and previewed for free, and downloading them requires full access: €9.50 once, for 30 days, no subscription.

Will a PDF from eveilo pass an ATS?

Yes. Every template saves as a PDF with a readable text layer, with no content hidden in images, so applicant tracking systems read the name, positions and dates.

Can the template be changed after filling it in?

Yes, at any time. The content stays, only the layout, colours and font change. The cover letter takes on the look of the chosen template.

How many pages should a CV have?

One page for people at the start of their career, two for candidates with several years of experience. The editor shows the page breaks live, so it is clear where the first page ends.

Should a CV include a photo?

It depends on the market. In the UK, Ireland and the US a photo is usually left out; in many EU countries it is common but optional. Every template has a version with and without a photo, switched with one click.

Do I need Word to fill in a template?

No. The template is filled in online in the browser, on a phone as well. There is no file to download and edit; the finished document is produced as a PDF that opens and prints anywhere.

Can I fill in a template without creating an account?

A free account is needed so the content is saved and can later be moved to another template. No card details are requested for it.

Can the same CV be produced in several languages?

Yes. The editor keeps language versions of the same CV in English, German, French, Spanish and Polish, and section headings switch with the document language. AI-assisted translation of the content is part of full access.
